From Enroll America:
New Health Care Coverage Options Have Sweetened February 14 for Consumers
LANSING, MI — This Valentine’s Day, as Michiganders fret over whether they should say “I love you” with chocolate or flowers, Get Covered America boldly asks, “Why not say it with health care?” In honor of St. Valentine, here are the top ten reasons why getting health insurance can make this year’s jour d’amour extra lovely.
- Chocolate can put weight on your waist, but having health insurance takes the weight off your shoulders.
- Need cash for flowers? Use the money you saved after receiving financial help for coverage.
- If your heart is broken, doctor’s visits are covered.
- Insurance providers cannot break up with you; you stay covered regardless of illness or injury.
- Preventive health screenings are covered, so your heart can continue to beat strongly.
- You can now pursue a career you love without worrying about losing coverage — now, that’s amore.
- Thinking of starting a family this Valentine’s Day? Maternity care is covered.
- Rather not start a family this Valentine’s Day? Contraceptives are covered at no cost.
- Everyone can find a plan that will care for them; denied coverage based on preexisting condition is a thing of the past.
- This Valentine’s Day, cuddle up, put on some music, pour some wine, and relax with peace-of-mind knowing you’re covered.
“For those who have not enrolled yet, there is still time to pick and enroll in a plan that is right for them,” said Erin Knott, Get Covered America Michigan State Director. “Get Covered America staff and volunteers are in communities across Michigan educating consumers about their new health coverage options and asking them to pass the word along to loved ones.”
In conjunction with Valentine’s Day, Get Covered America has launched a new online campaign: Friends with Health Benefits. The campaign uses cheeky graphics and a play on a recognizable phrase to encourage people to reach out to their friends who are uninsured. The campaign will help spread the word about the new, affordable health care options available via the Health Insurance Marketplace and emphasize the March 31st deadline. Get Covered America is kicking off the campaign with Valentine’s Day-themed graphics. Stay tuned for more graphics that will be released throughout the remainder of open enrollment.
