Chuck Gaidica, WDIV “Live in the D” cohost, will share the many opportunities available to retirees as they prepare for this new chapter in their life at the launching of the Older Persons’ Commission Rewired not Retired program on October 6 at 7:00 pm. Gaidica has reinvented his life and wants to share with fellow Baby Boomers his story and what some experts call an “encore career.”
There are nearly 10,000 Baby Boomers retiring each day in America according to the Pew Research Center and by 2030 the U. S. Bureau of Labor and Statistics has projected the number of Americans 65 and older will grow to 72 million. Many of today’s retirees don’t follow old paradigms or outdated societal norms these adults are choosing to reinvent themselves.
The OPC Rewired not Retired program goal is to provide support and direction to boomers in transition or thinking about transitioning. The group will meet on an on-going basis starting in October to help pre- and post-retirees explore their passions and strengths to determine a post-retirement path. This path could include volunteering, travel, going back to school, changing careers or starting a new business since each of us has different interests and abilities.
This special program with Chuck Gaidica is open to the public at OPC in the Cattell Auditorium. To reserve your seat, call now 248-656-1403 extension 0.
