The Friends of the Rochester Hills Public Library will be participating in “Giving Tuesday” on December 1.
Unlike other seasonal events that are linked to commercial activity—Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, Cyber Monday—this one is designed to stimulate giving back via monetary donations to charity. It’s actually a global effort; more details can be found at Twitter at #GivingTuesday.
Locally, the Friends are the non-profit volunteer group that supports the library via volunteering, running fundraisers and administrating the used book sales. President Ron Meegan noted that the Friends have made it very convenient for Rochester area supporters to make the Friends a part of their holiday largesse by taking part in this event. “If you have the means to give a monetary donation this #GivingTuesday, the Friends and the Library would greatly appreciate your generosity,” said Meegan.
How to do that?
Mark your calendar for Tuesday, December 1. Then that day, take to the internet at www.rhpl.org/friends-of-the-rhpl/special-events. Click on the PayPal link to allocate a donation to the Friends. Remember, this is a one-day event and donating should take only a few minutes, even during this busy time of year.
