Go from Couch to 5K with the Brooksie Way Spring Jumpstart Training Program

BWF13Before you know it, it will be time to run the HealthPlus Brooksie Way. So instead of waiting until the last minute, why not start training now? Beginning Thursday, March 26 this seven-week running and walking program uses a run/walk/run or walk/shuffle/walk interval training method with the goal of getting you across the finish line.

Interval training is used for the entire process; you won’t be pushed to run without walking, even during the race. This program is for everyone, ages 18 and up.  Groups will meet once a week on Thursdays in Rochester for a workout, then run or walk two other times a week on your own. The first meeting on March 26 is at the OPC at 6:30 p.m., after that, all groups will meet in the parking lot at Rochester High School.OakFit10k After your training, you will participate in the Hometown Hustle 5K Race on Saturday, May 9 in Rochester and the OPC Walk For Meals 5K on June 6. The cost for both races are included in your training registration fee.  For more information, contact Sue Barnes, barness@thebrooksieway.com or 248-860-5589. Online information and registration are available at https://brooksiewaytraining.webconnex.com/2015landing.
