Governor Snyder Addresses Rochester Hills Executives-Mayor’s Business Council Recognized for Reinventing Region

Business Executives from Rochester Hills were given an exclusive opportunity to hear from Governor Rick Snyder as he addressed members of the Mayor’s Business Council at an event held at Rochester Hills based, EEI Global.

In an private gathering of the areas top CEO’s and Executives, Governor Snyder provided an update on his plans to reinvent Michigan, including his goal to create more and better jobs and how he plans to revitalize the education system.

“It was a privilege to host Governor Snyder,” states Mayor Bryan K. Barnett. “This was an excellent opportunity to share the success of our innovative business community and of our City’s leadership.”

Executives were able to address critical issues that impact their business, such as the ability to attract and retain talent, expanding our means of transporting goods globally and the impact of Detroit’s reorganization on the region.

Snyder shared his experiences since becoming Governor for the State of Michigan. “When I took office, I was informed that Michigan ranked 50th in anticipated job creation.  Collectively as Michiganders, we could not let that happen,” stated Snyder. “Since then, we have created 220,000 new jobs in the private sector and companies in Rochester Hills are helping to make that happen.”

Rochester Hills’ strong approach to economic development continues to attract new, businesses, while existing companies continue to expand.  With the second lowest unemployment rate in the State at 5.1%, and the lowest vacancy rate in over 10 years, Rochester Hills continues to be a leader in the region.
