On Thursday August 30, from 3:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m., Grand Traverse Pie Company at Rochester and Tienken Roads will be donating 30% of their proceeds to the Rochester Area Neighborhood House. This donation will support client services, such as the food pantry, clothes closet, and new employment initiative.
“We think it is very important to give back to the community in whatever way we can,” Jim Staron, Director of Operations, Grand Traverse Pie Company, said. “We love to work with local food pantries to help people in the best way we know how – with food.”
Grand Traverse Pie Company will also be supporting Neighborhood House with its “Hunger Free Summer” initiative. From June 11 through September 9, proceeds from Apple Pie sales (slices, mini pies, and whole pies) in all Grand Traverse Pie shops will be given to food pantries in their pie shop communities. These donations will help to provide thousands of meals to children and families in this community.
“We are grateful for the support of everybody at Grand Traverse Pie Company, “Katie Lamb, Director of Fund Development, Neighborhood House, said. “It’s because of support like this that Neighborhood House gets to help our neighbors in need.”
Neighborhood House is a human service organization that assists its neighbors in times of hardship. They collaborate with the community and other social service providers to help those neighbors with emotional or financial assistance. Neighborhood House believes that neighbors helping neighbors is the model of a strong community.
Grand Traverse Pie Company donates pies regularly to Neighborhood House’s food pantry and also have a coin house at their cash register, which collects money for the local non-profit.
