“The Great Oaks Gives Non-Endowed Fund recently established at the Community Foundation of Greater Rochester with a $20,000 donation represents the members’ philanthropic commitment to the greater Rochester community. At a recent committee meeting I attended, the members discussed all of the Club’s contributions year to date – not just monetary donations but with hands-on projects as well – an impressive array for any group of volunteers,” said Johanna H. Allen, Community Foundation Executive Director. “I am happy to welcome Great Oaks Country Club to the Foundation’s register of donor advised funds and look forward to working with its members to achieve their charitable goals.”

Great Oaks Gives mission is to “Promote and deliver the volunteer engagement and support of the Great Oaks family for the betterment of the communities in which we live.” Great Oaks Gives annually selects one charity to support via various fund raisers throughout the year and additionally engages in multiple volunteer activities for “hands-on” community support from club members and staff. The Yellow Ribbon Fund was the 2016 primary charity and additional volunteer activities included a Red Cross Blood Drive, Rochester Community House dinners, Operation School Bell, Gleaners Community Food Bank food drive, and several school and church fundraisers.

Great Oaks Gives is now in the process of choosing its primary charity partner for 2017 and defining the volunteer opportunities in which the club family will engage throughout the coming year.
