What is First Street Lofts?

First Street Lofts is projected to be a beautiful six-story apartment building set in the City of Rochester’s thriving downtown. Offering a mix of one, two or three bedroom luxury apartments. Along with the secure underground parking decks, a gym and modern apartment layouts will bring a new type of living to downtown Rochester. The two lower levels will be parking with 85 spaces and the apartments will be above that. Due the low grade at First Street, the six-story building will be consistent with the skyline of Main Street.

Forty-seven units of residential living space is a “long time coming,” said Mayor Jeffery Cuthbertson at the groundbreaking. First Street Lofts received approval from the City last year and will begin construction in late April. The groundbreaking took place on Tuesday morning at the building site, located on the northeast corner of First and Walnut Streets. People can’t wait for this to “come online” said Mayor Cuthbertson.

The Team

“As a local developer, we are very excited to build this apartment building in Rochester,” said owner, Bret Russell. He went on to say what a “wonderful team” the project has and suggested completion in 12-14 months – closer to 12 months with good weather.

During his State of the City, Mayor Jeffrey T. Cuthbertson featured the project as one of three new multi-unit residential developments in the City. Regarding this project, Mayor Cuthbertson stated, “First Street Lofts is an important residential project in the heart of downtown that will add to the vibrancy of our City.”

“I’m excited to be leading the team in building First Street Lofts,” said Joe LoChirco, Senior Project Manager, “give us a year” and we’ll have the “lifestyle so many people want” in Downtown Rochester. LoChirco indicated that the building’s shell would be up by September.

Director of Community and Economic Development Nik Banda stated, “Based on all the calls we get for new loft units with private parking, this development will be a huge hit for our community as well as a great fit for the southern part of town.” He added, “The more folks living downtown within walking distance means more business for our local shops, without an increase in demand for parking!”
