The following is an update from Rochester Community Schools regarding the Hamlin Road construction project in Rochester Hills:
Community Members,
As you may be aware, construction has commenced on Hamlin Road between Livernois and Rochester Roads. A restricted work zone has been established that only permits local eastbound traffic. Westbound traffic on Hamlin Road will not be permitted at this time. In addition, all Hamlin Road intersecting streets (between Livernois and Rochester) with a secondary access into subdivisions, including Juengel Drive, have been closed at Hamlin Road.
The contractor is working on an accelerated schedule with the goal of having two-way traffic permitted from Hamlin Elementary School to Rochester Road by September 7, dependent on the weather. If the work can be completed on schedule, the intersection closure at Juengel Drive and Hamlin Road will also be reopened by September 7. Other side-street intersections west of Hamlin Elementary School will remain closed until the Hamlin Road project between Livernois and Rochester is complete.
Please note that travel to and from the Hamlin Elementary School is considered local traffic. An attached detour drawing is included for your reference.
We continue to communicate regularly with the City of Rochester Hills engineering team and will provide additional updates as they become available.
The City of Rochester Hills with the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) continues reconstruction of Hamlin Road between Livernois and Rochester Roads and rehabilitation of Hamlin Road between Rochester Road and Dequindre Road.
TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS:
Beginning August 15, 2015, Hamlin Road is closed to through traffic between
Livernois and Rochester Roads and detoured via Livernois, Avon, and Rochester roads, as shown on the map below. Only local traffic will have access EASTBOUND on Hamlin Road during this time. Adjacent side streets (Avonstoke, Cumberland, Juengel, Crestline) will not have direct access to Hamlin Road.
