Rochester Hills Museum at Van Hoosen Farm is presenting Two Environmental Programs in February
The Rochester Hills Museum at Van Hoosen Farm will be presenting Happy Hibernation on Saturday, February 4; and the Great Backyard Bird Count on February 11. Admission is free for members of the Rochester Hills Museum. For non-members, the fee is $5 for adults, $3 students, and $3 for seniors.
Happy Hibernation on February 4
Join Patrick Endres, the Museum’s Environmental Educator, for a fun afternoon learning about all the animals that hibernate and why they hibernate. This program will also include storytelling, games, and an outdoor hike to look for some hibernating wildlife. Ages 7 and up are welcome, unless otherwise noted.
Great Backyard Bird Count on February 11
There will be two sessions for this annual bird count project.
10:00 – 11:00 a.m.: This will be an adult bird hike and count at the Avon Nature Study Area. Adults 18 and over. Guests will be learning about the Great Backyard Bird Count and birding basics. Those attending are encouraged to dress for the weather, wear hiking shoes, and bring their own binoculars.
1:00 – 3:00 p.m.: This will be a family bird hike and count at the Rochester Hills Museum. Ages 7 and up are welcome. Families interested in learning the kinds of birds they see in the winter and methods for attracting them can join the Museum’s Environmental Educator for a fun afternoon. Guests will be making a take home bird feeder and going on a bird hike.
