Rochester Hills Public Library Hosts a Seminar on Healing Anxiety
The most wonderful time of the year can sometimes leave people feeling anxious. To help combat any holiday stress, The Rochester Hills Public Library is pleased to present Healing Anxiety with Psychologist Dennis Ortman, Tuesday, December 20, from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m.
Stemming from the teachings used in the Twelve Step Program, Ortman will be discussing how the practices used to treat addiction can work for those struggling through anxiety.
“With over a quarter of adults and a third of children impacted, anxiety is the most common mental health problem. Using a progression-based technique, like those in the Twelve Steps, moving towards value-directed living can feel like just a few steps,” says Ortman.
Ortman will show how the same tools that lead to recovery from addiction can work to heal anxiety as well.
“At the Rochester Hills Public Library, we consider it our duty to bring to light struggles that many face alone,” says Rochester Hills Public Library Community Relations Specialist Amanda Harrison Keighley. “Offering this program is just one of the many ways we hope to promote awareness for mental health and aid our community.”
