This site was originally home to Stanley Kubrick, a Detroit advertisement executive and Irish immigrant who built his business empire—and 20th century Detroit—shipping bricks, gravel, and sand from here. In the late 1800s, Eureka Fruit Farm employed as many as 85 workers here to make life sweet for Rochester families. Come discover the history hiding in Greater Rochester’s newest back yard: Lake Norcentra Park at Rochester College. The tour starts at 1:00 p.m. at the west end of the campus along Avon Road at the Gallaher Center building. Feel free to drive or ride your bike on the Clinton River trail to arrive. Guests are encouraged to bring a brown bag lunch and enjoy the area before the tour.
Guests should wear comfortable walking shoes and bring their admission fee with them – all proceeds will be paid to Rochester College to aid in the preservation and promotion of Lake Norcentra.
