Huntington Ford Inc. is proud to announce that it successfully contributed 731 pounds of food and $1000 to Gleaners Community Food Bank. These donations will provide over 3,500 meals to those in need in Southeast Michigan!
Huntington Ford had recently sponsored a food drive to benefit Gleaners Community Food Bank. During this time, they encouraged employees, customers, and the public to donate nonperishable food items to Gleaners Community Food Bank in order to “Fill a Ford” with donations. The event was kicked off during the “Go Further with Ford” night in mid-November and ran through the end of the year. Huntington Ford reached out to the community through social media, advertisements, and drop boxes throughout the dealership. Huntington Ford donated $1,000 and also collected 731 pounds of assorted food goods for Gleaners in a Ford Transit Connect. Combined, this donation will provide 3,562 meals for our hungry neighbors in need!
The board and staff of Gleaners adopted a three-year strategic plan to address the largest hunger crisis in the organization’s history. The plan calls for Gleaners to grow their annual food distribution from 36 million to 50 million pounds by 2013. The plan also involves growing their outreach and education programs to help people rely less on emergency food – programs like Cooking Matters, which teaches families how to budget, shop for and prepare meals that are economical and nutritious.
“We at Huntington Ford are proud to contribute to Gleaners’ goals to end hunger,” said Patrick Scoggin, President of the dealership.
We would like to thank everyone who participated in the “Go Further with Ford” campaign and helped us “Fill a Ford”. Your generosity helps to make a difference in the community and in the lives of those in need.
