German Company to Invest in Rochester Hills
Rochester Hills Mayor Bryan Barnett announced Thursday at a press conference the sale of 15 acres of city owned property to German manufacturer, Jenoptik Automotive. The sale was approved by city council on February 22.
Jenoptik Automotive, a manufacturer and system provider for high precision, contact, and non-contact production metrology and laser cutting has been operating in Rochester Hills since 2007. Executives at Jenoptik have submitted plans to build a 100,000 square foot, state-of-the-art Michigan Technical Campus on the site.
The press conference was held at the Oakland Center on the campus of Oakland University, and was the kick off to the annual Community Outlook Breakfast hosted by the Rochester Regional Chamber of Commerce. Mayor Barnett was part of the four-person panel addressing leadership in the Greater Rochester Area.
The average salary will be $90,000
“As the company grows, so will their footprint, bringing $20 million dollars of investment and over 250 high-paying jobs to Rochester Hills,” said Pamela Valentik, Rochester Hills Economic Development manager. “We are thrilled to continue our relationship with this outstanding company and look forward to their future in Rochester Hills.”
Located on West Hamlin Road, between Livernois and Crooks Roads, the property sold for $2.3 million. According to city officials that is above market rate in this area. The property had been purchased by the city in 1999 with a partnership plan intended with local schools, which never developed.
Three divisions of Jenoptik in Michigan will be consolidated and an engineering campus is in the works for the new site.
