Ferndale, Michigan — Camp Casey Fest is set to rock downtown Ferndale on Saturday, October 15, 2011, with 12 hours of live music capped off by a headlining performance by Josh Gracin.
Other acts scheduled to appear include Annabelle Road, John Maison, Gunnar and the Grizzly Boys and more. More than just a music festival, Camp Casey Fest will feature a chili cook-off, awesome arts and crafts vendors, great grub from local restaurants and big screen TVs broadcasting the U of M vs. MSU football game.
Tickets are only $10 if purchased in advance ($15 at the door after 5 pm); kids 10 and under free with a ticketed adult. 100% of ticket sales benefit Camp Casey, a horseback riding program for kids with cancer in Michigan.
“We enjoyed great success with our chili cook-off last year and are really taking it to a whole new level this October,” said Molly Reeser, Camp Casey founder and executive director. “Not only have we added great retail and food vendors to the mix, but bringing in Josh Gracin to headline the event makes this the biggest and most exciting fundraiser we’ve ever had.”
“It’s always an honor to do anything that benefits charity,” said Gracin, who is originally from Westland, Michigan. “I’m excited to be taking part in this event that helps Camp Casey.”
Camp Casey Fest kicks off at 11 a.m. on East Nine Mile at Woodward Avenue in Ferndale, Michigan. The chili cook-off and art fair portion of the event conclude at 5 p.m. An official after-party is being hosted by Rosie O’Grady’s in Ferndale starting at 11 p.m. Presenting sponsors of Camp Casey Fest include G/S Leasing, Inc., M.A.D. Power, Tubby’s Grilled Submarines, Garden Fresh Gourmet, Rosie O’Grady’s and blugray creative.

Camp Casey, a 501c3 nonprofit organization founded in 2003, offers three unique programs to children with cancer and their families. Cowboy Camp Outs are overnight mini-vacations at dude ranches in Michigan; Horsey House Calls bring a horse to the doorstep of kids too ill to attend an overnight retreat; Outlaw Outings provide family-oriented activities, like attending professional sports games, without the expense or hassle of planning.
