Kirk Cameron stopped in Rochester Hills today to be the keynote speaker at the National Day of Prayer Breakfast held on the campus of Oakland University. To a crowd of about 900 people Cameron spoke of his personal relationship with God and the importance of prayer in his daily life. He is the father of six children and he mentioned his great concern for our country and the direction it is headed in. “Don’t worry, I’m not running for office!” Cameron said as he began to talk about the nation. He spoke of the Pilgrims and their great courage and strength to flee the comforts of England and voyage to the unknown of the west. He is coming out with a documentary called “Monumental” later this year that will spotlight that very topic. Cameron finished with a prayer and headed over to Auburn Hills Oakland Christian School to speak with the 500 students there as well. This was the 30th annual prayer breakfast in the Rochester area. “The fact that our local celebration recognizing the National Day of Prayer is the largest in the country speaks volumes about our community’s faith,” said Mayor Bryan Barnett.
I wish I could have been there, I’m a big Kirk Cameron fan from Growing Pains, but more recently from Fireproof- such a great film!
