Letter to the Editor: Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association of Metro Detroit Responds to Radical Killings

Dear Editor Rochester Media,

I have no words. Forty Europeans gunned down at a beach in Tunisia. Thirty Shia slaughtered at a Mosque in Kuwait. And a French man beheaded at his place of work. All in the name of Islam. My message to those perpetrators, “You took the lives of our brothers and sisters in humanity. How dare you!”

I could say that Islam represents peace. I could say that their actions go against the teachings of the Quran. I could say that the Prophet Muhammad would never condone these acts of terrorism. All of which are true. But I refuse to allow these barbarians to associate their actions with my peaceful religion. I refuse to give even the slightest credence of this subject matter an association with Islam.

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association of Metro Detroit offers its deepest and most heartfelt condolences to the victims of these tragedies and their families. We pray that peace and justice reign on this earth for all human beings.

Mahir Osman
Vice President, Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association – Metro Detroit
