Letter to the Editor: Mayor Barnett Deserves Re-election

On November 3rd, I urge my neighbors to join me in writing in Bryan Barnett for Mayor. I could tell voters that he deserves re-election because he has been a great fiscal steward and that despite having added funds to important city services like road and green space maintenance, he has still managed to produce a balanced budget for three years running all while holding the line on taxes. I could tell you he deserves to be returned to office because it has been through his leadership that our city now has the lowest crime rate in the state and we now ranks 16th in the nation among U.S. cities with the fastest-increasing home values. I might also mention that during his tenure, our community has flourished and as a result, Rochester was voted one of the top 10 places to live by CNNMoney magazine in 2014. Any of those factors alone would merit his re-election, but to me what really sets Mayor Barnett apart is his dedication to constituent services. I recently had need to call upon the Mayor and not only did he devote his time and attention to my call, he actually made every effort to address my concern. Though I called others on the Council, only Mayor Barnett was willing and able to solve the problem. It is that sort of compassion and dedication that a community needs and we have been blessed by his desire to continue to serve in that capacity. I urge my neighbors to reward excellence, by joining me in supporting our Mayor.

Sincerely,

Lauren Dees

  1. I don’t disagree with most of your comments. I do wish he would refrain from negative campaigning . It really minimizes his accomplishments by painting him as just another politician willing to do anything to get elected. He’s better than that.
