Low-mileage Cars and More at Oakland County Auction

A classic 1980 Chevrolet Camaro with a Corvette engine and a rare 1991 GMC Syclone are among the featured vehicles at this year’s annual Oakland County Auction. Both vehicles have fewer than 14,000 miles. The event takes place Saturday, May 21 at the county’s Vehicle Operations Building, 1200 N. Telegraph, Building 16 East, in Pontiac.

“The Oakland County Auction is a highly anticipated event,” County Executive L. Brooks Patterson said. “Car enthusiasts love to try to get a good deal to add to their collections. Plus, there’s something for everyone from electronics to power tools.”

In addition to 71 vehicles, attendees will be able to bid on a Sylvan Marine boat with no engine, a Schwinn mountain bike, a pair of Ralph Lauren boots, a Sentinel tall gun safe, and a Zettelmeyer ZL402 front end loader with three blades and forks. Plus, there are Kuerig coffee makers; Moen, Delta and Kohler faucets; and a variety of DeWalt tools. Rounding out the list is an assortment of Nike shoes, video game consoles, computers including an Apple MacBook Air, large screen televisions, and home theater systems by Sony and Divinci.

J. David VanderVeen, director of central services for Oakland County, encourages auction attendees to pre-register.

“You can sense the anticipation the morning of the auction,” VanderVeen said. “To get out in front of the competition, it’s best to pre-register instead of waiting in the lengthy registration line.”

The public preview of all auction items will begin Saturday, May 21 at 8:00 a.m. Those who wish to inspect only the vehicles up for auction may do so Friday, May 15 from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. The general auction gets under way at 9:00 a.m. Saturday followed by the vehicle auction at noon. Gates close at 3 p.m. Individuals who are unable to pre-register online may also pre-register on site Friday during vehicle inspection hours.
