Make holiday cleanup easy and “green” this season

If you’re the type who put their Christmas tree up the day after Thanksgiving and are ready to take it down December 26, then you’re in luck. Below are the dates, locations, and times where you can conveniently and properly dispose of your tree.

Self-serve Christmas tree recycling is available at 11 Oakland County Parks from Thursday, Decemeber 26, 2013 through Monday, January 20, 2014, seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Independence Oaks in Clarkston and Orion Oaks in Orion Township will accept Christmas trees until Monday, February 3, 2014.

Please remove all decoration from trees before dropping them off. No commercial trees will be accepted.

The trees will be processed to make compost and wood chips that will be available to the public free of charge at Orion Oaks County Park on select days in 2014.
