Meijer is opening a new 47,000-square-foot Meijer Grocery format store on May 6 at 1495 N. Rochester Road. in Rochester Hills. The new location will bring fresh, high-quality groceries and everyday low prices to area customers through a convenient, streamlined shopping experience. The store replaces the former Hollywood Market, which opened in 2007 and closed in January 2025.
Rochester Media was invited for a sneak peak of the new store. Workers were putting the finishing touches on displays, shelves were being filled, and everything was shinny and new. Produce and other perishables will arrive just prior to opening.
This will be the third Meijer Grocery store in Michigan, complementing the retailer’s 125 well-known supercenters and market format stores across the state while delivering the same quality and value customers have come to expect from the Midwest retailer. The opening will bring Meijer’s total store count in Michigan to 128 and employ 175 people at this new location.
“This new Meijer Grocery location represents our continued investment in bringing value and convenience to customers right where they live and work,” said Maureen Mitchell, Vice President of the East Michigan region for Meijer. “Designed for convenience, the streamlined format makes it easy for customers to quickly find the fresh food and other essentials they need at the lowest prices every day.”
Meijer launched its grocery format in 2023 with the opening of two stores in Southeast Michigan and has plans to open additional locations in the future. Their formula and format simplifies the weekly shopping trip by focusing on the categories customers need most. Including a wide assortment of fresh produce, grocery staples, a deli with meats and cheese selections, and bakery, meat, and seafood departments. They offer a full-service pharmacy, health and beauty care, and pet supplies. In addition, they stock beer, wine, and liquor, as well a cards, balloons, and floral area.
The new Rochester Hills store will also feature Meijer’s popular savings and digital tools, including mPerks, Shop & Scan, and Meijer Home Delivery and Pickup, giving customers the flexibility to shop how and when it suits them best. Traditional checkout lanes are available and the store features wide aisles and is fully wheelchair accessible.
