MEISNER’S COUNTYWIDE “TREASURER TOUR” HITS ROCHESTER

Pontiac, Michigan – Following through on a commitment to meet and visit with every local Treasurer in the county, Oakland County Treasurer Andy Meisner today visited with the City of Rochester Treasurer John Hiller and municipal officials to discuss ways that the Office of the County Treasurer can be of service to the City of Rochester.

“The ‘Treasurer Tour’ allows the City of Rochester to learn more about cost-saving services my office currently provides, and allows me to learn about new ways to serve the City of Rochester.  This type of collaboration can drive innovation and creative problem-solving during tough budgetary times.”

As Oakland County Treasurer, Meisner’s focus is on preserving the county’s prosperity during times of unprecedented financial crisis, preventing mortgage and tax foreclosures that destabilize our communities and threaten property values, and prudent stewardship and investment of Oakland County taxpayer dollars.

“We need all hands on deck to move Oakland County forward,” said Meisner.  “I hope that today’s visit will be an important step towards building a bright future for such a special place.”

Oakland County Treasurer Andy Meisner was elected in November of 2008 after serving three terms in the Michigan House of Representatives, where he chaired the Commerce Committee and served on the House Tax Policy, Education, Judiciary, and New Economy and Quality of Life Committees.  Treasurer Meisner is also known for his work on legislation bringing the motion picture industry to Michigan, stem cell research and reform of the public mental health system.

Meisner’s Countywide Treasurer Tour has also made visits to the Treasurers of Brandon Township, Holly Township, City of the Village of Clarkston, Clawson, Pontiac, Southfield, Ferndale, South Lyon, Birmingham, Berkley, Village of Lake Orion, Wixom and Highland Township with many more visits booked for 2010.
