Modetz Family Gives Back to Innovation Hills

River Bend Park, Renamed to Innovation Hills this Year, Now Has the Money For a Waterfall

The City of Rochester Hills continues to be the beneficiary of outstanding community generosity. This time, thanks to the Modetz family.

Philanthropists John and Mary Modetz, hope to assist with the creation of a park that will be one of a kind.

Mary Modetz said the family’s decision to direct the money to the new park was an easy one. The donation will be used to build one of the first features of the park, a waterfall which will be a focal point and beautiful first impression guiding guests to the central pond.

A series of six ponds and waterfalls, flowing under two walkways, will serve as a bioswale and recreational experience at the same time, allowing people to watch, listen and touch the moving water as they enter Innovation Hills.

“This donation for Innovation Hills is an investment in our community’s future,” states Mary Modetz. “People from all over Southeast Michigan will enjoy a recreational experience unlike any other and our family wanted to be a part of this legacy.”

“We are so grateful for community leaders like the Modetz family who have so generously supported this new park,” states Mayor Bryan K. Barnett.

Thanks to the support from community leaders like the Modetz family, the park is transitioning from dream to reality. If you are interested in learning more about how you can help provide long-term support to Innovation Hills, please contact the Mayor’s Office at 248-656-4664.
