As a part of National Healthcare Decision Day, Crittenton Home Care invites the public to Crittenton Hospital Medical Center on Wednesday, April 16 to receive information about advanced directives and the importance of healthcare decisions. Recently added, Elder Law Attorney and Shelby Township Trustee, Douglas Wozniak, will speak to round out the event at 6 p.m. in the Crittenton Hospital Medical Center Auditorium.
National Healthcare Day is an effort dedicated to highlighting the importance of advanced health care decision-making. In an effort to raise awareness, organizations across the country will be hosting events, providing information and connecting with state and city leaders to educate the community on the importance of advanced directives. The community will be able to pick up a copy of Michigan Advanced Directive, Do-Not-Resuscitate (DNR), and Organ Donation paperwork at the event.
Advanced directives (healthcare power of attorney and living will) allow individuals the chance to state their healthcare wishes in advance, planning for the unexpected. Through advanced directives, families can talk about end of life wishes and execute a plan.
“We hope to have many people stop in on April 16 to find out more about advanced directives,” said Andrea Walker, Crittenton Home Care Community Relations Coordinator. “The healthcare and end-of-life discussion is important, but often a difficult conversation to start. The Decision Day event is a great place to start the conversation.”

Information will be available from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Crittenton Hospital Medical Center’s main lobby.
