The Friends of the Rochester Hills Public Library’s Summer Used Book Sale is set for July 27 – 30 and Monday, August 1. Sale chairperson Ann Gruenewald reports that appropriate to the season, books about nature – wildflowers, butterflies and related topics – abound.
The sale is at the second floor of the main library building at 500 Olde Towne Road in downtown Rochester. Thousands of books are priced at $1 for hardcover and large softcover and 50 cents for small paperbacks. DVDs, board games, and puzzles are also economically priced.
Come early for the best selection. As usual, Friends members get to take part in a pre-sale, set for Wednesday, July 27, from 5:30 – 8:00 p.m. (New members can join upon entry. Registration at individual $20; family $35; Student/Senior $10 and senior couple $20 are available at the door.)
The general sale open to the public then takes place as follows (note that sale hours are slightly different than the library’s hours of operation):
- Thursday, July 28, 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
- Friday, July 29, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- Saturday, July 30, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Because the library is closed on Sundays in the summer, the Bag Day (all the items you can place in a large paper grocery bag for $5) will be Monday, August 1 from 10:00-a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Most of the books and other sales material are donated by library patrons throughout the year. For more info on how to donate media and on the value of a Friends membership, go to www.rhpl.org and click on the Friends link at the bottom of the home page.
