New Children’s Mural at The Rochester Hills Public Library

In honor of the 50th anniversary of the Friends of the Library, muralist Suzanne Hester painted a fabulous mural in the children’s room of the Rochester Hills Public Library.  The mural features characters from children’s literature for all ages.

When asked what she used as her inspiration, Hester replied that she wanted the mural to be something that would not only be relevant for the library’s youngest visitors, but also for those in their teens.  She masterfully accomplished this goal using the familiar faces of Curious George, Humpty Dumpty, Aslan from the Chronicles of Narnia series, and many other all-time favorites.

The completed mural is nearly impossible to miss.  It is located on the wall to the left as one enters the youth room.  Children cannot help but be inspired as they view the lifelike characters while checking out new adventures for themselves.
