New Places to Eat in Rochester Hills

Hungry residents have new choices this summer to dine around town. The Rochester Regional Chamber of Commerce has hosted several ribbon cuttings throughout June and July—here are three of the restaurants—welcoming new businesses to the area.

Avery’s Tavern

Located on the west side of Crooks Road, just south of Hamlin Road, in the former Chapman’s Mill Restaurant is the new Avery’s Tavern. A full menu, available late most nights, and a wide range of adult beverages make this an easy choice for lunch, after work dinner, or weekend evening out.

Challenged by what seemed to be never-ending construction on Crooks Road, the former business didn’t survive. Now, with the roadwork done, Avery’s Tavern owners have remodeled the place—the inside is wonderful—to accommodate families, couples, business meetings, and more. Here is a list of themed evenings:

  • Monday: Kids Eat Free – All day, one child per parent, 10 and younger
  • Tuesday: Burger & Brew Night – 1/3 pound burger, fries, and craft draft $7.99
  • Wednesday: Whiskey & Wine Wednesdays, 40% off Whiskey and Bourbon, half-off all bottles of wine, 8:00 p.m. until close
  • Thursday: Quizzo! Detroit Pub Trivia Game 9:00 p.m. until 12 midnight, gift card prizes for winning teams
  • Friday and Saturday: Live Local Music, 9:00 p.m. until close, no cover

Entertainment and Special Events at Avery’s Tavern

Live music and special events, such as viewings of UFC, keep the crowds around a little later on the weekend. While entertainment may show up different nights of the week, patrons may count on it consistently on Friday and Saturday nights. This Friday, July 31, welcomes local band The Smokin’ 45s Rock and Blues Revue at 9:00 p.m. The folks from the Dark Horse Brewing Company (Marshall, MI) will also be doing a “Tap Takeover” the same evening, starting at 7:00 p.m.

Wayback Burgers

A new Wayback Burger comes to town. Located across from Crittenton Hospital, and way back off the road, is this soon-to-be-a-classic burger place. Rochester Area residents may or may not have been in a Wayback before—reminiscent of a hometown burger joint—where they’ll find fresh, never frozen burgers, hand-dipped milkshakes, and house-made chips.
