New Supervisor For Oakland Township and other Local Election Results

Very few of us went to the polls for the General State Primary. And while many races were “Vote for Not More than 1” when only one candidate was running, a few races were contested. Such as in the Charter Township of Oakland.

Incumbent supervisor, Terry R. Gonser, lost his bid for re-election to Michael Bailey who took 48% of the vote over Gonser’s 26%. Coming in third was Andy Zale with 25% of the vote. “Tonight was huge win for the residents of Oakland Township, but unfortunately it was not a win for my campaign. Congratulations to Mike Bailey! Mike, you have my support and my best wishes as you take on your new role in service to our community. Thank you to all my supporters, volunteers, and donors. The last six months have been an incredible experience and sharing it with the amazing residents of Oakland Township has been worth every minute,” said Zale on his Facebook Page.

Also in Oakland Township, Karen Reilly took nearly 71% of the vote over rival Judy Workings, for clerk. The four Trustee seats go to Robin Buxar, Frank Ferriolo, John Giannangeli, and Lana Mangiapane. And for Parks Commissioner, Emily Barkham, Daniel Bukowski, Cathy Rooney, Craig Blust, Colin Choi, Daniel Lee Simon, and Henry Van Agen take the seven spots available (13 candidates were running).

In the 45th district (Rochester & Rochester Hills), Michael Weber (REP) will face Ted Golden (DEM) in the fall election. And in the 46th district (Oakland Township), John Reilly (REP) will face David Lillis (DEM).

L. Brooks Patterson (REP) will face Vicki Barnett (DEM) in the November election for Oakland County Executive.

The Oakland County Zoological Authority Renewal Millage passed at 74% saying yes to keeping the tax going in Oakland County.

The Proposed Language for Older Person Commission Transportation Millage Renewal also passed with 81% saying yes in Oakland Township.

The Avondale School District had two Millage Proposals on the ballot for residents in that school district, both passed with ease.
