New Tile Mural Brightens Thelma Spencer Park in Rochester Hills

A team of project partners, including the Paint Creek Center for the Arts (PCCA), the Older Persons’ Commission (OPC), and Paint a Miracle, were able to host multiple workshops this past spring so that people of all ages and abilities could contribute to this outdoor mosaic.

The new tile mural was unveiled on July 12 in Thelma Spencer Park in Rochester Hills. Mayor Bryan Barnett, Rochester Hills Council Members, as well as OPC and PCCA representatives, hosted the Mosaic Artist Michelle Sider and many of the tile makers, to welcome the permanent art installation to the park.

Funded by the Michigan Council for the Arts and Community Affairs, it brought together over 350 community members to craft ceramic tiles depicting their love of community parks. Thelma Spencer Park is located at 3701 John R Road, Rochester Hills, MI 48307.
