Auburn Hills, Michigan, November 10, 2010 – The Oakland County Animal Control Division is seeking the public’s help in its investigation to identify who shot a cat with an arrow in Brandon Township that ultimately lead to its death.
“Unfortunately the cat had to be euthanized due to the extent of its injuries,” said Administrative Supervisor Joanie Toole. “The cat, a one year old domesticated shorthaired male, appeared to be shot with the arrow some time ago because the wounds were badly infected.”
The cat was found Tuesday in the vicinity of Oakwood and Briar Ridge Lane in Brandon Township. A resident of the area found the cat and notified the Oakland County Animal Control Division to pick it up.
“Had it not been for this citizen taking the time to rescue the cat it surely would have suffered an agonizing death,” said Nola Divico, veterinary technician at the animal shelter.
Anyone with information about who shot the cat with the arrow or who owned the cat should contact the Oakland County Animal Control Division at 248-391-4102.
“This is a case of unspeakable animal cruelty that will only be solved with the public’s help,” Toole said. “We are asking anyone with information to please come forward.”
