The Oakland County Clerk’s Mobile Office is heading to the Birmingham Farmers’ Market on Sunday, July 31st, Oakland County Clerk/Register of Deeds Bill Bullard Jr. announced today.
Anyone who lives in the area or surrounding communities is welcome. The Mobile Office will be available from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM in a tent provided on site by the Birmingham Farmer’s Market, located just north of Birmingham’s downtown district on Old Woodward.
This is the second time the Clerk’s Mobile Office has ever visited a Farmers’ Market in Oakland County. The first time was in June, when Bullard and the crew had a well-received outing at the Farmington Farmers’ Market.
The Clerk’s Mobile Office is done on a monthly rotating schedule to bring Clerk and Register of Deeds services into communities. The Mobile Office is a no-frills operation. Employees set up shop in borrowed space with laptop computers and printers so they can provide customers with on-the-spot copies of birth certificates, death certificates and other public records. Normal copy fees apply. Citizens can access many services, including:
- Certified Copies of Birth, Death and Marriage Records
- Marriage License Applications
- Notary Public Applications
- Registration of Assumed Names and Co-Partnerships
- Military Discharge Forms
- Passport Applications & Photos
- Copies of Property Records and Deeds
- Oakland County Circuit Court Records
- Identity Protection Information
- Voter Registration
- Absentee Ballot Application Forms
- Concealed Pistol License
“Our office in Pontiac can be a long way for people, especially with gas prices today. We’ve put most of our services on our website, but we realize that there are people without Internet access or those who may be more comfortable with personal service. And there are some services that are just better done in person. In an effort to reach out to all our communities, our Mobile Office pilot project will offer convenient one-day stops in each of the western, eastern, northern and southern portions of the county,” said Clerk Bill Bullard Jr.
Bullard stressed there is no additional expense associated with the Mobile Office because resources, including employees and computers, are simply being redeployed in regional locations.
“Our job is to provide citizens the best possible service at the lowest possible cost, whether we are serving them in their community, or at our main office in the Oakland County Courthouse in Pontiac.”
In addition to the usual services provided by the Mobile Clerk’s Office, Clerk Bullard will attend the Farmers’ Market to meet with the public and answer questions and concerns. County Government Directories will be provided for residents, along with information about the Oakland County Clerk and Register of Deeds expanded online services.
