Oakland County Commissioners Slated to Honor Oustanding Organizations and Citizens

County Officials Declare March as American Red Cross Month

On Wednesday, March 6, 2013, beginning at 7:00 p.m., in the Oakland County Board of Commissioners’ Auditorium, located at 1200 North Telegraph Road, in Pontiac, Michigan, the following individuals and organizations will be honored.

Oakland County Commissioner John A. Scott and Board Chairman Michael J. Gingell will honor the American Red Cross for its outstanding humanitarian service. Members of the Board will recognize March as American Red Cross Month in Oakland County and will present a proclamation to the following representatives of the organization:

  • Diane Ward, CEO, Southeastern Michigan Blood Services Region
  • Deb Macon, Board Chairperson of Southeastern Michigan Blood Services Region
  • Jim Bayson, CPA, Board Chairperson of Southeastern Michigan Regional Chapter
  • Victoria Steward, Chairperson of Volunteers for the Regional Chapter
  • Frank Roche, Chairperson Faith Based Work Group for Blood Services
  • La Forice Nealy, Regional Chief Executive Officer of American Red Cross Southeastern Michigan Region

County Officials Celebrate March as Parenting Awareness Month

Oakland County Commissioner Shelley Goodman Taub and Board Chairman Michael J. Gingell will also recognize March as Parenting Awareness Month and present a proclamation to the following organizations’ representatives:

  • Oakland County’s Youth Assistance Chief Mary Schusterbauer
  • Oakland Schools and the Great Start Collaborative’s Donna Lackie
  • Youth Assistance Family Education Advisory Committee Rosemary Spadofore.

Area Eagle Scouts to Receive Honors

Three Oakland County-area Eagle Scouts will also be honored this evening. Oakland County Commissioner Shelley Goodman Taub will present at proclamation to area Eagle Scouts—D.L. Graham, Alexandre Mallenbat-Vacqueur and Cameron Haines for their achievement and community service.

Highland Boy Scout to be Honored for Life-Saving Action

Area Boy Scout Jonathon Kunnert will be honored for saving the life of a neighbor.

Oakland County Commissioner Bob Hoffman will present a proclamation to recognize Boy Scout Jonathon Kunnet for coming to the aid of a neighbor; he found lying on the ground one cold fall day. Jonathon called 9-1-1 and gave a blanket to the elderly neighbor while also comforting him during the ordeal until emergency assistance arrived.
