Oakland County Officials and Law Enforcement Agencies to Announce the June 5th Gun Safety Awareness Day and Free Countywide Gun Safety Lock

It was announced today that members of the Oakland County Board of Commissioners’ Public Services Committee’s Curbing Gun Violence Study Group, the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office, and the National Project ChildSafe organization, along with more than 25 law enforcement agencies from Oakland County and the Oakland County Board of Commissioners will announce the Gun Safety Awareness Day and Free Gun Safety Lock Giveaway program at a news conference on Tuesday, June 2.

At that time, County officials will also distribute the free cable-style gun locks provided courtesy of National Project ChildSafe/National Shooting and Sports Foundation to the local law agencies organization present and will give insight and valuable information about the June 5, 2015 Gun Safety Awareness Day program. A new, locally produced 30-second Curbing Gun Violence Safety Lock PSA will also be shown.

The 2015 Oakland County Board of Commissioners members are Michael J. Gingell (Board Chairperson), Jeff Matis (Board Vice Chairperson), David Bowman, Hugh D. Crawford, Bill Dwyer, Wade Fleming, Marcia Gershenson, Robert Gosselin, Bob Hoffman, Janet Jackson, Eileen Kowall, Christine A. Long, Gary McGillivray, Thomas F. Middleton, Nancy L. Quarles,  John A. Scott, Michael Spisz, Shelley Goodman Taub, Philip J. Weipert, Dave Woodward and Helaine Zack.
