Oakland County recognized for graphic design

Oakland County has garnered national attention for excellence in graphic design. Graphic Design USA, a magazine for creative professionals, awarded the county three certificates of excellence in its American Graphic Design Awards contest. It is rare to win multiple awards in the same year, according to the magazine.

The works of graphic artist Pam Tremble and her interns, Danielle Gravelle and Paul Shortt, were among 8,000 entries from American graphic design firms, governments, advertising agencies and corporations.  Tremble’s submissions included the graphics for Patterson’s “What Goes into $2 Billion” event at The Palace in June, which celebrated surpassing the $2 billion investment mark in his Emerging Sectors initiative. A highly selective 15 percent of entrants received awards.

“This is well deserved recognition for Pam and her team,” Patterson said. “She handles the graphic design for our most important events such as my State of the County address. So, it comes as no surprise to me that she attained such a high level of recognition.”

Tremble and her interns designed the graphics for Patterson’s “What Goes into $2 Billion” event that thanked Emerging Sectors companies for investing in Oakland County. Specifically, they custom-designed a poster that was given as a gift to Emerging Sectors companies and the party invitation, which Graphic Design recognized with awards.

The magazine also honored Tremble and Gravelle for their creation of a series of ads that ran last spring in The Oakland Press Moving Forward section.

Tremble’s work will soon be on permanent display. She designed the wrap depicting different aspects of living and working in Oakland County that will adorn the water tower behind the Oakland County Farmer’s Market on Pontiac Lake Road in Waterford. The installation of the wrap is scheduled for mid-October.
