Oakland Pet Adoption Center Adds Adoption Outreach Centers in Waterford and Rochester Hills

Auburn Hills, Michigan, December 27, 2010 – Oakland Pet Adoption Center has expanded its Pet Adoption Outreach Centers to seven, opening two more in Waterford and Rochester Hills. The adoption outreach centers are intended to draw more prospective adopters with the goal of increasing the number of pets being placed in good homes.

The new adoption outreach centers are:

  • Maxx’s Place dog grooming, 3044 Sashabaw Road in Waterford, 248-673-9973
  • Auburn Animal Hospital, 1619 Auburn Road in Rochester Hills, 248-852-5666

Other adoption outreach centers are located in Birmingham, Clarkston, Bloomfield Hills, White Lake and Livonia.

“Our outreach program has already resulted in hundreds of cats and kittens finding homes,” said Oakland Pet Adoption Center Administrative Supervisor Joanie Toole. “We want to continue to make it more convenient for potential adopters to find their new best friend.”

Pet Adoption Outreach Centers provide temporary care for cats and kittens awaiting adoption.  The number and types of cats available, center hours, adoption fees, and terms of adoption vary by location.  Each center is focused on adoptions only and is not equipped to take in pets for which owners can no longer provide care.

“We are always looking to add more adoption outreach centers,” said Toole. “We would like to hear from veterinary practices, pet supplies retailers, and pet service providers that would like to help.

Pet Adoption Outreach Centers must meet certain criteria, be pre-approved by Oakland Pet Adoption Center, and agree to care for the cats until a permanent home is found.  Veterinary hospitals and pet-related businesses that would like to become an adoption outreach center should contact Oakland Pet Adoption Center volunteer and program coordinator Linda Wasche at LindaW@LWmarketworks.com or 248-253-0300.

Oakland Pet Adoption Center is located at 1700 Brown Road in Auburn Hills. Its mission is to “provide a temporary haven for animals until we can find them permanent, loving homes.”
