Oakland Township Historic District Commission Invites Artists to Cranberry Lake Farm Historic District for a ‘en Plein Air’ Painting class

Join the Oakland Township Historic District Commission (HDC) and local artists on Thursday, June 25, 2015, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for “en Plein Aire” painting; painting in “fresh air” or out-of-doors. Participants will have the rich experience of painting with seven professional artists at the beautiful rustic Cranberry Lake Farm in Oakland Township. The grounds provide varied subject matter including historical buildings, beautiful landscapes, and distant vistas. The artists teaching this workshop create in all art materials and use both realism and abstraction styles. There will be a general information discussion and then individual attention from the various artists as they work by the participants’ side. Bring a bag lunch or $10 for box lunch order from Victoria’s Reserve. The class will take place at 388 West Predmore Road, Oakland, MI.

Reserve a spot by prepaying the $25 fee. Upon registration (required) participants will receive the supply list of items to bring. Register/prepay at the HDC Office located at 4880 Orion Road, Oakland Township (upstairs in the Paint Creek Cider Mill). Registration Deadline is Monday, June 22, 2015.

The artists are:

  • Janet Almstadt-Davison has been a Plein air painter and teacher for over 30 years working in watercolor, pastels, oils, acrylics and pen and ink.
  • Barbara Clay is a former school teacher and a painter for the last 15 years who paints in oil, acrylic and pastel. This lover of landscape will be working in pastel on the Farm.
  • Denise Dunn makes expressionistic paintings of the world around her. Her paintings are dramatic and bold using exciting color.
  • Christina Haylett is a 1980 graduate from College of Creative Studies, a retired auto worker and now a full time artist. She works in acrylics when she does landscapes.
  • Tina Hoenes works in many craft areas and paints Plein air landscapes in oil paint.
  • Mary Marple has been painting in watercolor most of her life and translates scenery into expressionistic paintings.
  • Bobbie Tarbunas is a lover of all things beautiful, a gardener, a nurse and protector of nature. This artist of many years works in oil, acrylics and watercolor.
