CD Release at 20 Front Street August 23
The Keynote Sisters present a fresh-faced look at a range of musical genres, from Americana, country and pop, to oldies and classics. Sisters Phoebe and Jaclyn Holmes have been honing their craft since grade school, with Phoebe picking up the guitar at age six, and Jaclyn taking up piano at seven (and having recently added a Cajon to the mix). Phoebe is a recent graduate of Michigan State University with plans to become a physician assistant, and recent Lake Orion High School graduate Jaclyn will be attending Roosevelt University in Chicago to earn her BFA in Musical Theatre. Both are active songwriters, and will release an EP of original works, Rose Colored Glasses, at their CD release show at 20 Front Street (20 Front Street, Lake Orion, MI) on Friday, August 23.
2018 Michigan ‘State Fair Superstar’ Grand Prize Winners
Winning the State Fair Superstar Competition offered the Holmes sisters not only a unique opportunity to learn from an esteemed team of successful Michigan music professionals, but it also gave them the validation they needed to seriously consider a career in music. “Prior to winning the State Fair Superstar Competition, we honestly hadn’t considered pursuing music as a career. It had always been a huge part of our lives, but I didn’t believe people who told us we could go into this business,” said Jaclyn. “Now, with all that the Michigan State Fair has provided us, we are pursuing Keynote Sisters more than ever, realizing that we could take this further than we thought possible.”
“I still have intentions of one day entering the field of health care as a physician assistant; however, I am not set on a strict timeline with that goal. Now that I’ve graduated from undergrad, I’m ready to take some time away from school to dedicate time to my music career,” said Phoebe. “The Michigan State Fair has given us so many new connections and insights into the music business, so I’d love to see how far we can go.”
The Keynote Sisters will perform at the Michigan State Fair on September 2.
