Albert Edmund Feliksa, 90, of St. Ignace died Saturday, August 31, 2013. He was born to the late Carl and Carolina Feliksa, March 16, 1923, in Pontiac, Michigan. Al served as a navigator in Air Sea Rescue for the Army Air Corps during World War II and was awarded a Silver Star and Purple Heart. His war story is memorialized in Tom Brokaw’s, The Greatest Generation Speaks. After the war, Al studied at General Motors Institute and received a BS in Engineering. He married the late Margery M. Feliksa (nee Wright) in 1946, and they lived together in Drayton Plains, MI. before relocating to St. Ignace, MI in 1994. Al was an engineer for General Motors until he retired in 1986. Al was a man of service to the poor and to his community. He co-founded Gleaner’s Community Food Bank in Detroit, served on the Boy Scouts of America’s national board of the Catholic Committee for Scouting, and he served on the hospital board for St. Ignace. He was an active member of Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church in Waterford and St. Ignatius Catholic Church in St. Ignace, while he lived in those communities. Al is survived by three sons and three daughters-in-law: Michael and Elvira Feliksa of Scottsdale, AZ; Kevin Feliksa and Ellen Wadsworth of Austin, TX; and Paul and Tracy Feliksa of Rochester Hills, MI. He also is survived by six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, with another great-grandchild expected in October. Brother of Leonora (the late Jack) Habel. Uncle of Mark (Deborah) Habel and John (Dottie) Habel. Born and raised in Martinsville, he was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a graduate of General Motors Institute, His career was spent as an Engineer with General Motors Corp. until his retirement in 1992 after 35 years of service. He was a long time member of the Heart of the Hills Barbershop Music group where he sang baritone and tenor. Beloved husband of Anna Bastin Pearcy, whom he married August 24, 1957. Proud and loving father of Ann (Rene) Blatte, Anita (Richard) Robinson and Sarah Pearcy. Devoted grandfather of Aubrey, Beau, Abby, Montgomery and Erin. Brother of Hiram (Jane) Pearcy. Dr. Wenguang (George) Wang, age 67, of Auburn Hills, MI, formerly of Canton, MI & Morgantown, WV, passed away peacefully in his own home surrounded by family and friends on Saturday, August 31, 2013. He battled Stage Four Gastric Cancer for two years. Dr. Wang was born in TaoYuan of Hunan Province, China, to a family of nine siblings. He was the youngest. His early childhood years were spent on the back of the family buffalo, wishing that he could go to school. Finally he was permitted to enter school at age eight and immediately he was top of his class. Every opportunity to advance in education was seized with diligence and tenacity. Dr. Wang earned a B.S. degree from the University of Hunan. At age 37, he became a visiting scholar to the United States. Shortly afterwards, he entered the graduate program at West Virginia University. From there, he earned a master’s degree in Mining, a master’s and Ph.D. in Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering, and became a professor and advisor to graduate students. While at WVU, he published over 90 professional journals in Engineering. In 1999, he became the Senior Engineer at AM General and served there until retirement. Dr. Wang was the recipient of several awards, including the 1996 SAE Teetor Educational Award and “Best Professional of the Year” award in the International Who’s Who Professionals, 2001. As much as he pursued success, he also pursued God. He sought the Lord every morning without fail. His devotion and faith was evident to all, especially during the time of his illness. Dr. Wang predeceased his wife of almost 40 years, Jiang Qin, his son Peter, his daughter Carol, his daughter-in-law Wang Huan, and his three grandchildren Deborah, Sarah, and Tianmu. Viewing and Memorial Service will be held at the Pixley Funeral Home in Auburn Hills, MI, on Thursday, September 5th, at 5:30 and 7:30 PM, respectively. Dr. Wang will be cremated on Friday, September 6th around 10AM.
