Dinosaur Hill Nature Preserve Open Hours

Sunday Concert: Rocky Mountain Shadows

Rocky Mountain Shadows is a combination of classic and original folk songs performed by Gary Brandt and Jackie Davidson. Gary Brandt started playing guitar as a young boy and grew up with folk music in the 1960s. Jackie Davidson is an original member of ‘The New Christy Minstrels’. As a former member of the famed duo ‘Jacke and Gayle’, she also had a lucrative career in movies, television, and commercials. Registration required.

Rachel’s life was cut short during the attack at Columbine High School, but her acts of kindness and compassion coupled with the contents of her six diaries have become the foundation for the most life-changing school program in America. How to Backpack Around the World

Robert Downes, the Traverse City author of Planet Backpacker, will share his story of traveling on a five-month solo backpacking trip through the developing world. Downes’ trip involved pedaling a 20-year-old mountain bike through Ireland, across England, and down the Danube, staying in hostels and bandit-camping in a tent. Ditching his bike in Prague, he backpacked on through East Europe, Egypt, India and Southeast Asia. Planet Backpacker isn’t just about traveling around the world; it’s a celebration of the backpacking way of life. After the presentation, books will be available for purchase.

Northern Lights: The Michigan UFO Experience

Join us for an evening exploring the truly out-of-this-world subject of unidentified flying objects (UFOs) with Bill Murphy, board Member of the J. Allen Hynek Center for UFO Studies and Consultant to the Michigan Chapter of the Mutual UFO Network. Northern Lights examines the UFO phenomenon and how it has expressed itself in Michigan sightings, including an apparent UFO-jet collision in 1953, the famous “swamp gas” episodes of 1966, and the Holland-Grand Haven radar-visual sightings that were featured on CBS’ 48 Hours. Mr. Murphy, a former automotive engineer, college teacher, and historian, uses his own case investigations and research into little-known UFO files to provide insights that will interest those with any background level in the subject.
