The Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) has announced via press release that the following projects may cause traffic delays on roads between Sept. 10 and Sept. 17 or may start shortly thereafter.
It is RCOC’s goal to conduct road improvement projects in a way that interferes with traffic as little as possible. This list includes both Road Commission projects and projects conducted by others, under permit, on roads under the jurisdiction of the Road Commission.
Please note: This information is subject to change. Projects can change from day to day, and traffic delays can develop in a matter of minutes due to weather, emergency situations, etc.
ROAD: Avon Road, Crooks Road to Adams Road
Project: Avon is closed between Crooks and Adams while RCOC resurfaces the road. The detour route is Adams to Hamlin to Livernois and back to Avon and vice versa.
Community: Rochester Hills
Completion Date: By Oct. 10
ROAD: Tienken Road, Livernois Road to the Paint Creek Trail
Project: This section of Tienken is closed while RCOC reconstructs and widens the road to three lanes, with a continuous center left-turn lane, and constructs a roundabout at the Tienken/Livernois intersection. The detour route for through traffic is Rochester Road to University Drive to Adams and back to Tienken and vice versa.
Community: Rochester Hills
Completion Date: Nov. 15 (the second phase, from Rochester Rd. to the Paint Creek Trail will take place next year)
ROAD: Baldwin Road from south of I-75 to Brown Road
Project: RCOC is removing and replacing this section of Baldwin Road. The road remains open during the work, but is reduced to one lane in each direction. Motorists should expect delays.
Community: Auburn Hills and Orion Twp.

Completed since last week:
RCOC has essentially completed the resurfacing of Orion Road between Flint Street and Rochester Road in Lake Orion, Orion Township, Oakland Township and Rochester Hills, and all lanes are now open.
