Lace up your running shoes and get ready to ‘Dash Down the Clinton River Trail’ in support of Meals on Wheels on Saturday, June 6. The 5K Run/Walk race will begin at 8 a.m. at the Older Persons’ Commission (OPC) in Rochester, MI and all proceeds will benefit Meals on Wheels of Northern Oakland County, which provides daily meals for homebound senior seven days a week.
According to the press release, the need to support the Meals on Wheels program in our community is great because of the necessity in providing a meal to a homebound senior. In 2014, OPC’s Nutrition Department prepared over 92,000 home delivered meals to homebound seniors in nine different communities as part of the Meals on Wheels program.
All runners and walkers will take to the starting line at 8 a.m. at the OPC and travel down the serene Clinton River Trail. The 5K course is flat with only one hill making it the perfect course for any athlete. There is a reduced entry fee for pre-registered participants before June 1: $15 for ages 12 and under and $20 all other participants. Race day entry fee is $25. All pre-registered participants will be guaranteed a t-shirt. Awards will be given in 10-year age groups for all timed participants. Refreshments will follow the race. For online registration, visit www.EastsideRacingCompany.com to register online, or print off a registration form at www.OPCSeniorCenter.org and mail in the form. No matter if you run or walk across the finish line, thank you for supporting Meals on Wheels!
