Rochester Symphony Orchestra
248-651-4181|www.rochestersymphony.comWith the goal of sharing the enjoyment of good music, a small but dedicated group of musicians formed the Rochester Symphony Orchestra in 1961. In its early years, the RSO grew and matured under such conductors as Frederick Johnson, Richard Goldsworthy, Alonzo Seaboldt, and Edward Steinhart. In 1980, the organization took a major step forward with its appointment of James Fenwick Hohmeyer as music director and conductor. His dynamic leadership, vast musical knowledge, and inventive programming advanced the orchestra to the point that the RSO was able to choose from top flight candidates when it selected Maestro Glenn Klassen as Mr. Hohmeyer’s successor.
The RSO offers subscription concerts featuring noted guest artists and soloists. In addition, it conducts educational outreach programs in the greater Rochester area, including its acclaimed annual Young Artist Competition.
The RSO is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Gifts to the RSO qualify as tax deductible contributions pursuant to the rules and regulations of the Internal Revenue Code. For more info about the Rochester Symphony Orchestra, call: 248.651.4181.
