The Rochester Hills Outdoor engagement team is gearing up for a full summer of scavenger hunts, survival skills, and s’mores. As the weather heats up, so does outdoor programming.
“Kids, teens, and parents alike are looking for ways to create fun, summer memories,” said Mayor Bryan K. Barnett. “There’s no better way to do this than at one of our amazing parks and green spaces.”
The 2021 summer schedule includes outdoor classics like kayaking 101, which takes paddlers through the important safety basics on the serene Spencer Carter Lake. In addition, families can enjoy brand new opportunities to discover local wildlife during the Amphibians at Innovation Hills event.
For some younger explorers, the city will offer three day camps at Bloomer Park packed with adventure. Kids will spend time looking for creatures in the river, learning to use microscopes, and roasting marshmallows.
“Our programs are designed to both foster a love of the great outdoors and help educate the next generation about our local habitats,” said Natural Resources Manager Matt Einheuser.
