Patterson drapes building in flag to mark 70th anniversary of D-Day

To commemorate the 70th anniversary of D-Day, Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson has directed the county’s Facilities Management Department to drape a large American flag on the west wing of the Oakland County Circuit Court Building.

“D-Day marked the beginning of the liberation of Europe from the forces of darkness,” Patterson said. “We must never forget the brave individuals whose sacrifices secured the allies a toehold in Europe on June 6, 1944.”

The 30-foot by 60-foot banner will remain on display through Monday, June 16 to celebrate Flag Day as well. The court building is located at 1200 N. Telegraph in Pontiac. Individuals may observe the flag from northbound Telegraph as commuters approach the government campus.
