Eye Teeth: A Satire on the American Way of Life will take over the main gallery of Paint Creek Center for the Arts on Friday, March 2. Curated by Ryan Standfest, the show includes works in all media.
Participating artists include David Becker, Nikki DeSautelle, Ray Domzalski, Andy Gabrysiak, Jenclare Gawaran, Jo Powers, Stephen Schudlich, Bruce Thayer, Maureen Vachon and Peter Wiliiams. Subjects for consideration include mass media, religion, class, race, sex, gender, urban decay/renewal, capitalism – any aspect of the American identity and its state of being.
The first floor gallery will feature Tom Humes: Recent Works, a collection of new paintings, watercolors, and relief prints from this well-loved Detroit artist.
There will be an opening reception for both shows Friday, March 2, 7-9 p.m. The shows run through April 6. Admission to the opening and the exhibits is, as always, free.
