Older Person’s Commission (OPC) Annual Run/Walk for Meals Raises More Than $32,000
More than 600 people participated in the OPC 5K Run/Walk for Meals this year. The weather was perfect for walking, running, jogging and cheering on the racers.
Over $32,000 was raised for Meals on Wheels, which provides daily meals for homebound seniors seven days a week. Last year OPC prepared, delivered and served a total of 117,959 nutritionally balanced meals to be delivered to seniors’ homes by over 500 volunteers, dining in at OPC and other area senior centers.
“Thank you to the outstanding number of friends, families and OPC staff members who participated in the 5K in support of the Meals on Wheels program, a true community effort.” said Renee Cortright, OPC Executive Director.
Some of the winners include Jake Crist, Hannah Schurman, Jennifer Krieter, Joe Lombardo, Kim Tvrdovsky, Martin Kraft, Walter Zechmeister, Marv Larson, and Marilyn Groth – different race categories – from Rochester Hills, Rochester, and Oakland Township. A full list of race results is available at OPC 5K RUN/WALK FOR MEALS.
Special thanks to presenting sponsor PAR Pharmaceutical and longtime support Attorney Dana Wilson and to race-day volunteers. For more information about the OPC or Meals on Wheels, visit www.opcseniorcenter.org.
