There are several intriguing matchups set for Week 3, all but one which are league games. If anyone is thinking about making a run for a league title, now would be a good time to record a win.
For those teams that are winless, there’s still time to salvage the season.
TROY AT ROCHESTER (Friday, 7 p.m.): After three close losses to Troy in consecutive seasons, the Falcons have circled this game on their calendar. Troy is off to a 2-0 start and Rochester 1-1. The Black Eyed Peas “Got A Feeling” that the Falcons are due.
PICK: Rochester by 6.
ROCHESTER ADAMS AT SOUTHFIELD LATHRUP (Friday, 7 p.m.): There’s no way that Adams will lose to in a row in the OAA White, is there? Naw.
PICK: Adams by 9.
FARMINGTON HARRISON AT ROCHESTER STONEY CREEK (Friday, 7 p.m.): What was a promising season on paper for Stoney Creek could get ugly really quick. A 0-2 start sets up a date with the preseason OAA-White favorite Harrison. Not good news for these cats.
PICK: Harrison by 8.
AUBURN HILLS AVONDALE AT BLOOMFIELD HILLS ANDOVER (7 p.m.): The Barons are just what the doctor ordered for Avondale, which has been explosive on offense only to come up short with a 0-2 record. Here’s to you, Mr. Robinson, for leading Avondale to more than 40 points again this week.
PICK: Avondale by 11.
AUBURN HILLS OAKLAND CHRISTIAN AT ROCHESTER HILLS LUTHERAN NORTHWEST (Friday, 7 p.m.): Northwest is coming off a lopsided loss and Oakland Christian a narrow win. The Lancers will be without the services of some of their top players for breaking team rules. Northwest begins the march to its third straight league title against one of its rivals.
PICK: Lutheran Northwest by 8.
CLARKSTON AT TROY ATHENS (Friday, 7 p.m.): Those around the Athens program have been pointing towards this game since the schedule was released earlier this year. The Red Hawks got caught looking ahead last week in coughing up the football to Pontiac. Clarkston won its first game last week, but is still suffering the injury bug on offense. Choices. Choices.
