Rochester Garden Walk June 18
The annual Rochester Garden Walk will feature private gardens open for the day. The event is co-sponsored by the Rochester Garden Club and the Rochester Hills Museum at Van Hoosen Farm. It is scheduled for Thursday, June 18, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
In addition to the private gardens, visitors may tour the Nationally Registered Historic Rochester Hills Museum at Van Hoosen Farm. Participants can walk through several of the museum’s buildings and exhibition spaces, as well as the historic plantings on the 16-acre site. The Children’s Garden, maintained by the Rochester Garden Club, includes hands-on activities. A “Fleatique” market inside the Calf Barn will offer gently used garden art, tools and household items.
The Rochester Garden Club will host a Native Plant Sale on the museum grounds from 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The club works with local grower East Michigan Native Plants to offer a variety of Michigan native plants and shrubs. Tickets to the Garden Walk are not required to purchase plants.
At 10:30 a.m., the Auburn Oaks Team will present “Let’s Talk About It: Natives, Nativars, and Cultivars” in the Calf Barn. Native plants will be available for sale just outside the Calf Barn.
The Cookie Room in the renovated Dairy Barn will offer complimentary cookies and lemonade.
Advance tickets are available for $16 through Eventbrite via the museum website at and at Auburn Oaks Garden Center, Bordine’s Nursery (Rochester location only), Foglers Greenhouse, and Piechnik’s Garden Gate. Tickets cost $20 on the day of the event.
Ticket exchange and Garden Guides with garden locations will be available at the Rochester Hills Museum at Van Hoosen Farm, 1005 Van Hoosen Road, Rochester Hills, MI 48306, on June 15, 16, and 17 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Garden Guides will also be available for purchase all day on the day of the event.
