As reported in The Detroit News, “President Barack Obama will honor Brad Keselowski on Tuesday for his NASCAR Sprint Cup Series championship, the White House said Thursday.
Rochester Hills native Keselowski’s victory of NASCAR’s most coveted crown not only made him Michigan’s first native-born Sprint Cup champion, but it was a first-time achievement for racing legend Roger Penske, the team manager.
Keselowski won his first Cup championship in his third year on the circuit, something that had been done twice in the last 60 years — by Jeff Gordon and the late Dale Earnhardt.
While at the White House Tuesday afternoon event, Keselowski is scheduled to meet with wounded soldiers, according to an Obama administration statement.”
