Graphic Designer Aaron James Draplin to Present Braun Memorial Lecture on the Oakland University Campus in Rochester
For the 2017 Jean and Fred Braun Memorial Lecture, the Oakland University community will welcome Aaron James Draplin to campus on Wednesday, March 1.
Draplin, a graphic designer and founder of the Draplin Design Co., will present his talk “Pretty Much Everything: Draplin Design Co.” at 5 p.m. at Meadow Brook Hall on OU’s campus. The Detroit native will showcase his work, which includes case studies, road stories, lists, sketches, maps, how-tos and advice on design. He will also delve into the design process for some of his big-name clients, such as Nike, Esquire, Ford Motor Company and the Obama Administration.
Draplin is also the author of Pretty Much Everything: Draplin Design Co., which chronicles his life and career, with a blend of wisdom and humor. A book signing and reception will follow the lecture.
The Braun Memorial Lecture is supported through The Fred M. Braun Lecture Fund and the Department of Art and Art History. The lecture was established in 1986 by Jean Braun, professor emeritus of psychology at OU, to commemorate her husband’s love of the visual arts. The fund provides for an annual lecture in studio art, art history, or architecture.
The event is free and open to the public. For additional information, contact Maria Smith Bohannon at (248) 370-2754 or smithboh@oakland.edu.
